SUMMARY:BEC: Austin Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join BEC: Austin for our monthly meeting. Lunch provided. \nLocation: Swinerton Builders in the Workbench building (2422 E. 7th Street\, Suite 201\, Austin TX 78702) \nProgram update:\nSHIELD & STRUCTURE: FORTIFYING CLADDING SUPPORT DESIGN\nPresenters: Darren Butler of NVLP \nThis course explores the latest advancements in rainscreen systems as outlined in the model building code (IBC). Participants will gain a deep understanding of the role cladding support systems play in these assemblies\, along with key design considerations such as thermal derating\, rail orientation\, and single versus double-layer configurations. Through expert analysis\, attendees will evaluate how design choices affect the structural integrity and performance of cladding support systems. Whether you’re an architect\, engineer\, or construction professional\, this course equips you with the knowledge to make informed decisions that enhance durability\, efficiency\, and compliance with modern building standards. \nLearning Objectives \n\nAnalyze the latest updates in the model building code (2024 IBC) related to rainscreen systems and their implications.\nExamine the function and importance of cladding support systems within rainscreen assemblies.\nDevelop strategies for designing e ective cladding support systems\, considering factors such as thermal performance\, rail orientation\, and single vs. double-layer configurations.\nEvaluate how various design choices impact the structural integrity and overall performance of cladding support systems.\n\n1 LU \nREGISTER NOW \n\nBEC: Austin is an interdisciplinary organization that promotes the exchange of information on building enclosures and related science specific to the climate of Central Texas. \nInterdisciplinary: architects\, engineers\, contractors\, building owners\, consultants\, facility managers\, code officials\, educators\, manufacturers\, and those with a stake in building enclosure performance \nExchange of information: discussion\, training\, education\, outreach\, and awareness \nBuilding enclosures and related science: energy-efficiency\, moisture control\, indoor air quality\, longevity\, and durability \nBEC: Austin typically meets the first Wednesday of each month from 12-1pm.
