SUMMARY:Resiliency Advocacy x COTE: Austin's Permitting and Development Center Building Tour
DESCRIPTION:The City of Austin Permitting and Development Center is an incredible example of architecture that commits itself to long-term sustainable practices with community-centered design. With ample outdoor space dedicated to gathering\, efficient HVAC systems paired with water collection and reclaiming systems\, and adjacency to Cap Metro’s planned light rail\, the PDC has been awarded a 4-star AEGB rating and is the first building in Austin to receive WELL Gold. \nThis building tour course will walk attendees through both the public facing aspects of this design (like the amphitheater and fitness center) and the hidden systems like Texas’ first blackwater reclamation system and two 20\,000 gallon cisterns for potable water reduction. \nLearning Objectives \n\nDescribe the water efficient systems utilized in the Permitting and Development Center.\nIdentify building design strategies that allow large-scale water collection and reclaimed on urban sites.\nUtilize new understanding of water reclamation system maintenance post-occupancy to continue advancing these technologies in new projects.\nDiscuss the coordination efforts required to achieve energy efficient HVAC systems\, cisterns for rainwater collection\, and blackwater reclamation.\n\n  \nThe Tour will be led by Robert Stefani and Kalpana Sutaria from the City of Austin.\n1 LU/HSW credit (pending) \nREGISTER NOW
