DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Detailing Workshop in collaboration with Emerging Professionals. Past Chair Keith Simon will give a brief presentation on Detailing 101 before we break into groups led by architects and engineers. Bring your own detail or choose from some standard “blocked-out” details. We will have both residential and commercial expertise! Refreshments provided. Registration is required. \nIn this Detailing Workshop\, you will learn about control layers and detailing principles. You will be taught the basics of good detailing resulting in durable\, efficient\, and beautiful buildings. DESCRIPTION:AIA Austin Emerging Professionals is excited to announce the return of Design Shine at the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden this Fall. Design Shine\, a collaboration between the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum and the AIA Austin Emerging Professionals Committee (AIA EP)\, explores innovative design and artistic creativity. Through exhibitions\, panel discussions\, design charrettes\, and competitions\, Design Shine aims to highlight the importance of outdoor community spaces and provide opportunities for young designers to showcase their talents. \nEach year participants are selected from an open call invitation to emerging professionals\, local architects\, landscape architects\, artists\, and designers to submit ideas for an art installation that can be enjoyed both day and night. The winning designs embody innovation\, aesthetic appeal\, and a deep connection to the environment. \nInterested in participating? It will delineate the principles of designing with continuous insulation and guide participants on adhering to the latest requirements outlined in the International Building Code for stucco assemblies. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nGain basic knowledge of the main components of standard stucco assembly.\nUnderstand the most important upgrades in a stucco assembly.\nUnderstand how to incorporate Continuous insulation into a stucco assembly.\nDiscuss new code requirements for drainage behind stucco.\n\n1 LU/HSW \nLunch provided by FacadesXi \n \nTina Cannedy is a Technical and Architectural Executive with a B.S. in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Florida and over 25 years of experience in exterior wall systems. She has led innovation and studied and contributed to building code compliance across gypsum\, water-resistant barriers\, and cement board assemblies\, with specialized expertise in EIFS and stucco. As Vice President at FacadesXi\, Tina built the company’s technical operations from the ground up—driving system testing\, architectural engagement\, specification development\, and regulatory approvals. A respected industry leader\, she serves as Vice Chair of ASTM E06.58 and holds certifications including CSI-CDT and AWCI EIFS Inspector.
