SUMMARY:COTE Meeting - 1 LU
DESCRIPTION:Location\nZoom Information will be sent with registration confirmation. \nAIA 2030 Commitment Workshop with cove.tool\nDesigning Day-lit\, Glare Free\, Energy Efficient Buildings in Budget\nPresenters: Patricia Kusumadjaja and Marco Aguirre \nShifting energy codes are challenging architects with a wide array of parameters to balance like energy\, cost\, daylight\, views\, and embodied carbon. Hiring a consultant for every kind of analysis is a burden on fees. Many architects are harnessing simulation to shape the design and details of their projects. To be successful\, teams must understand the levers that impact the performance and set up processes for success. Join this session diving into two case studies to generate beautiful analysis graphics and see how to shape the narrative in a data driven design process. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nOverview of key performance parameters on project and their financial impact. We’ll dive into various building performance analyses including daylight analysis\, glare analysis\, shadow analysis\, sun hours\, radiation studies and more. Then\, we’ll examine how to balance cost to ensure the project is both high performance and within budget\nLearn about how 2 distinct teams iterated to achieve high performance project design. In building design\, collaboration is key. This course will provide examples of how teams can work together to create cost effective\, sustainable building designs.\nUse the case studies to understand the core workflow for performance driven decision making. To set up processes for success\, architects must understand the key factors that impact a building’s performance.\nTrack and report projects to the AIA 2030.There are many misconceptions about the 2030 challenge. We’ll explain how simple it is to measure progress\, reach targets\, and report to the DDX.\n\nThis is a Zoom event. Zoom information will be sent with registration confirmation. This event is free and open to the public\, or offers CE credit with a paid ticket. 1 LU (pending). All sales are final. \n\nAbout the Speakers\nPatricia Kusumadjaja is a Virtual Design and Construction Director at cove.tool. She has over eight years of experience working in the AEC industry\, namely in architectural cost estimating\, VDC\, and project delivery. Patricia earned her Bachelor of Architecture in 2015 from Kennesaw State University and her CEP from the AACEi in 2020. She strives to make a difference in the way owners\, construction and architectural professionals view high-performance design\, with the hope that sustainability and environmental consciousness becomes a non-negotiable priority in all future building design and construction. \nMarco Aguirre is the Research Director at cove.tool\, and has been with the company since 2018. cove.tool is an Atlanta-based SaaS company developing software to empower the AEC industry to achieve energy targets\, reduce construction costs\, and make data-driven decisions to fight climate change and democratize building performance. The suite of software products is now used by thousands of architects\, engineers\, contractors\, and developers in 22 countries around the world\, taught at top universities\, and in 2021 helped save 1.2 million metric tonnes of operational carbon emissions. In 2021\, his team was awarded the R+D award from Architects Magazine for their industry-changing design approach and product. As Director\, he coordinates the development of all new features and creates articles and videos on various topics such as sustainability\, building performance\, new technologies\, and best modeling practices.
