We will be celebrating this year’s Donna D Carter WiA/Design Austin scholarship recipients as well as hearing a panel discussion about “Why not me?“. Dine and mingle amongst the WiA community while enjoying a beautiful space previously featured as a WiA site tour\, as well as sweeping capitol views. \nAppetizers\, dinner\, dessert and drinks will be served. Cocktail attire is not required but admired. Silent Auction and Raffle prizes available to bid on with proceeds going to the Donna D WiA/Design Austin Scholarship fund. From the buzz of media to the intricacies of the built environment\, She has seen firsthand how innovation can drive real-world impact. She holds a Master’s in Sustainable Design and practical architectural experience is the foundation for my approach. She has built a track record of turning environmental vision into bottom-line results for AEC industry leaders. By combining strategic thinking with a deep understanding of client needs\, I’ve helped shape the future of sustainable development. As a recent co-founder of WITH. studio She is finally able to turn “Why not me?” into “It’s my time.” \nPanelists\n\nDonna Carter\, FAIA\, NOMA\, NCARB\nDonna Carter is the Founder and President of Carter Design Associates\, leading a practice that integrates historic preservation\, urban planning\, and community-focused design. With a BA from Yale University and a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley\, she has spent nearly 50 years shaping Austin’s built environment. A dedicated civic leader\, Donna co-chaired the RUDAT A Call to Action initiative\, influencing the revitalization of downtown Austin. She has served on the Texas Historical Commission and is currently the Board Chair for the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission.\nRecognized as an AIA College of Fellows inductee in 2010\, Donna has earned statewide design and preservation awards\, championing projects that elevate underrepresented histories. Her lifelong commitment to equity\, sustainability\, and community engagement continues to shape Texas’ architectural landscape. \n\nCamille Jobe\, FAIA\, RID\, ASID\, IIDA\nCamille Jobe\, FAIA\, has practiced architecture for over 25 years\, and her experience ranges from commercial\, retail\, educational\, restaurant\, recreational\, and residential projects. Her awareness of architecture came early in her life\, having grown up in a house designed by an architect. Her formal journey to practice began at Texas A&M\, where she received her degree in Environmental Design\, and later at The University of California at Berkeley where she earned a master’s degree in architecture. Her training in San Francisco influenced Camille’s eye for design and keen understanding for how complex and challenging ideas can be built. She is a founding partner of Jobe Corral Architects. Camille is a registered architect in Texas and an active leader in the community\, including Leadership Austin\, The Junior League of Austin\, The Austin Rowing Club\, Austin Community Foundation’s Women’s Fund\, the Austin Foundation for Architecture and AIA Austin as the 2022 Chapter President and the only women in the state of Texas to be inducted to the AIA College of Fellows this year. \n\nMiren Urena\, AIA\, LEED AP BD+C\nMiren Urena is a project coordinator at Boka Powell\, working toward licensure. She has experience in multi-family\, student housing\, office\, and hospitality projects. Beyond architecture\, she enjoys creating art installations\, contributing to String Theory (Creek Show 2019)\, Parallel Flux (UMLAUF’s Design Shine 2020)\, and most recently\, LiA’s Las Piñatas (2024). Her work blends architecture with artistic expression. As past chair of AIA Emerging Professionals\, Miren is passionate about mentoring aspiring architects. De Botton delves into the philosophy of architecture\, illustrating how design shapes our experiences and aspirations. Book club led by Leslie Jordan & Christina Alley. \nWe’ll meet every other Thursday via Zoom for ~45 minutes to chat and share insights. \n•    Our first session will kick off on Thursday\, April 17 at 10am\, and continue biweekly. \n📖 April 17 – Chapters 1 & 2 \n📖 May 1 – Chapter 3 & 4 (Nominate the next book!) \n📖 May 15 – Chapter 5 & 6 (Pick the next leader/book!)
