SUMMARY:Design Austin | PechaKucha #42
DESCRIPTION:PechaKucha is an informal gathering where creative people get together and share their ideas\, works\, thoughts\, and just about anything. \nPECHAKUCHA AUSTIN #42\nWednesday\, October 28\, 2026\nThe Baker School // 3908 Avenue B\n7:00PM Doors\, 8:20PM Program Begins \nDon’t miss this incredible night of creative storytelling featuring leading Austin-based architects\, designers\, musicians\, writers\, and artists at The Baker School (aka Baker Center). \nPechaKucha\, which roughly translates to “chit-chat” in Japanese\, is a creative speaking event that originated in Tokyo in 2003. The unique format\, a kind of speed-dating version of a TED Talk\, invites 10 guest speakers to each develop a presentation on a creative topic within the strict parameters of 20 slides (image slots) and 20 seconds per slide. The slides are set on a timer out of the control of the presenters\, so the cumulative effect of 10 short presentations\, just over six minutes each\, leads to a fast and furious evening of entertainment and creative inspiration. \nThank you our sponsors Pentagram\, The Press Room\, Purpose PR\, Austin BeerWorks\, and Rambler. \nPresenter Lineup + Order \n\n Travis O. Smith – Pressman\n Morgan Bart and Grant Lindberg– Journalists\n Justine Gilcrease – Restaurateur\n Bill Tavis – Muralist\n Yuliya Lanina – Multimedia Artist\n\nB R E A K \n\n Diego Miro-Rivera – Land Artist\n Robert Gay and Lucy Begg – Architects\n Davian-Lynn Hopkins – Graphic Designer\n Liz Lambert – Hotelier/Filmmaker\n Richard Weiss – Architect/Musician
