Las Piñatas is an annual event that exhibits large scale piñata installations for the Mexican American Cultural Center’s (MACC) Dia de los Muertos Festival. This showcase serves as a beacon of creativity\, inviting the community to engage with piñata-inspired artworks and enjoy complimentary piñatas.\nFeaturing installations by: \n\nDulce Piñata: First Gen Dreamer\nPfluger Architects: Alas Sin Fronteras | Wings Without Borders\nWRA Dream Team: Rostros de la Alegría\nBRR Architecture: Puente de Cempasúchil\n\n\nSince its inception in 2015\, the exhibition has grown into a pivotal feature of the festivities\, celebrating the resilience and creativity of Austin’s Latino community and the broader East Side residents. The event not only highlights Austin’s rich Latino heritage but also stands as a testament to the community’s significant influence on local culture.Latinos in Architecture (LiA) is dedicated to enhancing diversity and inclusivity within the architectural profession. By providing resources\, support\, and opportunities for Latinx architects\, designers\, and allies\, LiA promotes cultural awareness and sensitivity throughout the architectural field. Join us on their downtown Moody Rooftop for inspiring film screenings\, thought-provoking talks\, and to meet other design-minded creatives. The final event of 2025 is a screening of Helvetica! Use code DESIGNMINDEDGUEST for half-price admission. \nHelvetica (2007) is a cinematic exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them\, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work\, the creative process\, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type. Helvetica encompasses the worlds of design\, advertising\, psychology\, and communication\, and invites us to take a second look at the thousands of words we see every day. \nInterviewees in Helvetica include some of the most illustrious and innovative names in the design world\, including Erik Spiekermann\, Matthew Carter\, Massimo Vignelli\, Wim Crouwel\, Hermann Zapf\, Neville Brody\, Stefan Sagmeister\, Michael Bierut\, David Carson\, Paula Scher\, Jonathan Hoefler\, Tobias Frere-Jones\, Experimental Jetset\, Michael C.
