SUMMARY:Advocacy Roundtable: : Early Examples of Missing Middle Housing Typologies
DESCRIPTION:Each month\, the AIA Austin Advocacy Roundtable brings together professionals to discuss strategies individual professionals\, practices\, and AIA Austin can take to proactively advocate for issues important to our members and the larger community. This month\, our topic is Early Examples of Missing Middle Housing Typologies\, and guest speakers include Keith Mars\, Director\, Austin Development Services. \nCall for your “Lessons Learned” from Missing Middle Typologies. AIA Housing Advocacy & Affordability will focus on the lessons learned from pioneers of missing middle housing typologies in Austin\, and we’d love to hear from you! We’re looking for members who have experience (good\, bad\, or somewhere in between) with residential projects ranging from three-unit HOME developments to small multifamily buildings\, and projects that didn’t make it off the drawing board. \nWe’re interested in any unexpected constraints or creative solutions that arose with 4-20 unit residential projects. That may include topics like: \n\nParking strategies\nTrash and utility solutions\nAttached vs detached configurations\nShared tenant space design\nBuilding management challenges\nMarket response\n\nIf you have war stories\, hard-won lessons\, or creative approaches you’d be willing to share\, we want to hear them! Reach out to chris@shamsgannon.com if you’re interested in participating.
