DESCRIPTION:Resilient Water Conversations #1: Re-Source\nLessons & Strategies for Scaled Water Use and Re-use\n\n\n\nJoin us for the first in a series of 2026 Roundtables hosted by the Committee on Resilience focused on Water. \nWith growing populations and challenging climate realities\, it’s time to get more knowledgeable and more serious about implementing techniques to allow projects to source some of their water needs from auxiliary and on-site sources. Sharlene Leurig\, Texas Regional Director at WestWater Research\, and Jim Walker\, Director of Sustainability at University of Texas at Austin\, and Daryl Slusher\, former Austin City Council member and Assistant Director at Austin Water\, will share from their depth of expertise and experience. \nLearning Objectives \n\nDescribe the different buckets\, or types\, of water – from stormwater to blackwater – that constitute the interrelated parts of the overall water picture.\nIdentify water system strategies and advantages offered at the district scale that serve as important test cases for other project types and scales.\nLearn about and explain the regulatory requirements in the Austin Water service area\, as well as financial incentives and operational imperatives.\nRecognize the role architects can take in presenting opportunities and raising awareness of water use and re-use for clients and projects of all types.\n\nThis promises to be a very informative and horizon-expanding session for the AEC community! \n1.5 LU/HSW (pending)\n$5 members / $20 non-members\nRegister Here \n\nEach month\, the AIA Austin Advocacy Roundtable brings together professionals to discuss strategies individual professionals\, practices\, and AIA Austin can take to proactively advocate for issues important to our members and the larger community.
