DESCRIPTION:Instead of holding a meeting in March\, BEC: Austin recommends attending BEST6. \nFor the first time\, the prestigious BEST6 conference (Building Enclosure Science and Technology) will be held in Austin\, TX on March 19-20\, 2024. This conference by the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) boasts an incredible lineup of speakers and will feature a half day workshop dedicated to improving building science education. DESCRIPTION:The popular Storytelling Event is back again this year! \nSubmitting your work for design awards can be overwhelming. Gain feedback\, tips\, and tricks to break through the confusion with friends and colleagues at this breakfast workshop where you will learn the keys to compelling narratives\, graphics and storytelling.Join architects Michael Morrow\, AIA\, Jes Deaver\, AIA\, and art director Julie Pizzo for a discussion of what makes a project memorable to jurors. \nEvent is in-person and free but with limited space. Register HERE \nJes Deaver\, AIA\nJes Deaver is a partner at Nick Deaver Jes Deaver architecture where she practices residential design. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio-TV-Film from the University of Texas and a Master of Architecture from the University of Houston. Her writing is published in Texas Architect Magazine and AIA Young Architects Connections Magazine with her most recent articles exploring how the future\, ecology\, and built environment connect us to one another. She is a member of the AIA Austin Design Awards Committee. \nMichael Morrow\, AIA\nMichael Morrow is the founder and principal of Kinneymorrow Architecture\, a full-service architectural firm specializing in custom residential design with specialization in historic restoration\, adaptive reuse\, and new housing. Recently relocated to Austin\, the practice offers unique and tailored solutions for a diverse range of clients in Texas and across the United States. He has also led the Texas Society of Architects Design Awards committee. \nJulie Pizzo\nJulie Pizzo is co-founder and creative partner of Friends of Ours — a scalable experience design studio enlisting trusted designers\, strategists\, artists\, architects\, makers\, and more. Through art direction\, design\, and strategy\, Julie establishes and communicates visual identity across print and digital media\, as well as sense of place throughout environments. She curates nimble and efficient teams to develop unique and meaningful brand expressions. She also served as staff liaison for the design awards committee at the Texas Society of Architects\, gaining insight into juror conversations. \n  \n
