Resiliency & Climate Response Meeting

The Resiliency & Climate Response committee helps mitigate, adapt, and prepare for the ongoing and future impacts of climate change. We strive to identify practical solutions, build awareness, educate, and advocate for urgency in climate resilience activities.

TRACKING ISSUES

• DEC (Design Excellence Conference) 
  • Sessions scheduled (6, between all members) – coordinating continues pre-conf.
    • Water track
  • Share DEC info with AE staff as requested
  • Make special effort to broadcast to this comm and with COTE, others
• Tour of PDC on-site water systems: July 29
  • Collab with COTE; CEUs offered

PRIORITY ITEMS

• Brainstorm ideas for resilience demo integrated into new Design Center
  • Smaller scale, distributed as well as integration with facility, programing 
  • Stephanie and Liv to follow up with AIA staff
• Line up other potential tours (water) – Fall

CROSS-ADVOCACY COLLABORATION

• General
  • There are many large items on the city plate right now
    • Travis (Mobility) has  a laundry list of items to track to some degree
    • Austin Outside also tracking many of the same – Lauren on an AO committee
  • Dogs Head Annex – controversial, moving quickly
    • Support idea of engaging as active stakeholder
  • Barton Springs Bridge 
    • AIA letter supporting better design resolution 
    • Ben Heimsath good reference 
  • Streetscape & Green Infrastructure  design standards (* tree shade) 
    •  Track GI, Great Streets & Urban Design Guidelines updates, I-35 frontage and cap/stitch
    • GIWG is a working group of TARP; Lauren on both, can look for opps to interface w/ AIA
