Please join AIA Austin DesignVoice, McKinney York Architects, The SAFE Alliance, and the City of Austin for a tour of a 40-room hotel-turned-shelter renovation. Hear from the project team about lessons learned and best practices in creating trauma-informed shelters for survivors of violence and abuse. All of this on a tight budget, and within an existing, outdated structure.
The program for this project includes resident rooms for individuals and families, communal spaces including laundry and kitchen amenities, flexible working spaces for caseworkers, security, and residential staff to utilize, a food and clothes pantry, and covered outdoor playground. Residents will be welcomed into their new, beautiful, safe, spaces in September. Please join us for a preview of this meaningful project.
When: Thursday, August 28th from 4:30-5:30 pm
Location: East Austin – address and parking instructions will be distributed after signing up for the tour. When you receive the address, please do not post it publicly to maintain the safety of residents and staff.
