The City’s new Equity-Based Preservation Plan aims to use the past to shape an equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and economically vital future for all. The Equity-Based Preservation Plan will replace Austin’s 1981 historic preservation plan with an inclusive, community-oriented process and outcome. Created by a community working group, the draft plan is available for public review and feedback through May 31, 2024.
The draft plan recommends preservation policies, programs, and tools aimed at making Austin more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable. It was developed by a community working group with 26 members from across Austin. The working group heard from many voices through a survey, focus groups, and more. In total, more than 300 people helped create the draft. Bring your lunch and join City of Austin Planning Department Program Manager and AIA Austin Advocacy leaders, and participate in the discussion.
This event is free and open to all with registration here.
