Advocacy Roundtable // Shade Trees & Sidewalks: Expanding Austin’s Network

Austin aims to increase citywide tree canopy to 50% by 2050, but current policy only requires street trees on less than 5% of Austin’s streets for private development. Even these are often omitted due to regulatory obstacles or competing utilities. How can we prioritize street trees where people walk, bike and wait for transit? Join us for an update on the Green Infrastructure Working Group’s recommendations, City efforts to prioritize street trees, and opportunities to expand Austin’s tree network into more public projects.
