Advanced Stucco Assemblies

with Tina Cannedy, VP at FacadesXi

This presentation aims to enhance understanding of the fundamental stucco assembly, explaining modern upgrades that contribute to heightened crack resistance and durability. It will delineate the principles of designing with continuous insulation and guide participants on adhering to the latest requirements outlined in the International Building Code for stucco assemblies.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Gain basic knowledge of the main components of standard stucco assembly.
  2. Understand the most important upgrades in a stucco assembly.
  3. Understand how to incorporate Continuous insulation into a stucco assembly.
  4. Discuss new code requirements for drainage behind stucco.

Tina Cannedy is a Technical and Architectural Executive with a B.S. in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Florida and over 25 years of experience in exterior wall systems. She has led innovation and studied and contributed to building code compliance across gypsum, water-resistant barriers, and cement board assemblies, with specialized expertise in EIFS and stucco. As Vice President at FacadesXi, Tina built the company’s technical operations from the ground up—driving system testing, architectural engagement, specification development, and regulatory approvals. A respected industry leader, she serves as Vice Chair of ASTM E06.58 and holds certifications including CSI-CDT and AWCI EIFS Inspector. Known for her technical precision, collaborative leadership, and deep code knowledge, Tina brings a consultative approach to complex façade solutions.
